Following January 5th pt.2

After 6 six weeks I slowly returned to sports activity as my doctor said, and I felt on top of the world. I was playing a goalie in lacrosse as the year prior, though I couldn’t run, not like I wanted to anyways, I just stayed doing my job on goal. I did many drills and exercises that required me to stay in one place, and occassionaly I jogged a little. What was really great was that my coaches were not infruiated with me not being able to run, and just understood and worked with what I could do. I had my best season playing (out of 2 years of expierence), made lots of saves, and most importantly had little to no incident with my knee.

On April 15th I had another MRI to follow up with how my knee is healing. My doctor notes that “she has not had any specific right patellar instability episodes, although occasionally she does report intermittent locking sensation. However, further clarification does not appear that her knee completely locks and it is just discomfort as she ranges her knee as opposed to a frank locking…At this time, we think the previously unstable cartilage fragment appears to be healed, albeit with slightly decreased water content. We recommend continued nonoperative management and continued progression of activity. She does feel she is making good progress and her only discomfort mainly now is when doing deep squats which were explained to the patient, does produce increased contact forces on the patellofemoral joint and may be the last thing that comes back. We will see the patient back in about 3 months' time to monitor progress. Otherwise, a letter for school was provided and a new referral to physical therapy was provided. We will see the patient back in about 3 months for routine followup”. So going into the summer I proceed to start physical therapy in hopes to better recover and fix my knee.

I went to physcial therapy for about 3-4 months throught the summer slowing gaining strength and stability in my knee. On October 4th, I return to see my Orthopedic doctor, to review my recovery throughout the past 9 months since my injury. With following this the doctor ordered another MRI in 3 months to evaluate how I continue. With it being October my wrestling season is soon to start, and thus I begin in November and truly put my abilities of how I healed to the test.
